If I had put up a poll yesterday asking which Oakland recruit -- Thames or Maynard -- would still be playing after Monday night action, I think 90% would have said Drew.
PHN and Thames were facing mighty MAC Red Chippewa Valley whereas Lake Orion and Maynard squared off against Waterford Mott.
Well, who knew?
Thames and the Huskies live to play another day after they beat the Big Reds 65-51 at L'Anse Creuse North High School to advance to the Class A district semifinal. Jay Thames, he of up-and-down play all year? Way up with 26 points, 16 boards and 5 blocks. Yeah...nice.
PHN will play at 6 p.m. Wednesday against Anchor Bay.
Now, Drew Maynard? Not so much. LO lost 65-56. Drew had 17. On to OU, Drew!
